According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Padres have a prelimary agreement in place with free agent left hander Randy Wolf. The deal is pending a physical. Wolf is coming off season ending shoulder surgery but figures to be ready for Spring Training.
The Padres have always wanted to have a veteran left hander in their rotation, hence having David Wells at the start of last season. I think Wolf will bring them more versatility as well as that veteran presence in the back end of their rotation. With the signing of Wolf, it doesn't mean the Padres are done, especially with Padres' GM Kevin Towers and the rest of the Padres staff due to arrive on Sunday for the Winter Meetings in Nashville, TN.
