Indians' GM Mark Shapiro met with the media today during Day 1 of the Winter Meetings. He's looking to submit a contract extension offer to their ownership for approval, then submitting it to the agent for left-hander C.C. Sabathia.
There's talk that the Indians will look at the extension for 2007 Cy Young Award Winner Jake Peavy as the framework for their extension for Sabathia, not at what Twins' Ace Johan Santana could get in a new deal if he were traded.
