Tigers lock up Granderson long term


According to a story from the AP, the Detroit Tigers have signed outfielder Curtis Granderson to a 5-year $30.25M contract that includes a club option for 2013.


Granderson receives $1 million for 2008, $3.5 million in 2009, $5.5 million in 2010, $8.25 million in 2011 and $10 million in 2012. The team also holds a $13 million option for 2013 with a $2 million buyout.


Granderson had a career season in 2007 hitting .302 with 23 homers and 74 RBIs along with 38 doubles, 23 triples and 26 stolen bases. His 23 triples was the majors highest since Ty Cobb in 1917.
