In 2003, the San Diego Padres used a young minor league outfielder by the name of Jason Bay in a trade for current Padre Brian Giles. A trade that a lot of Padre fans have looked back on, because Bay went on to be an All-Star for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Now, according to San Diego Union Tribune's Tom Krasovic, Padres' GM Kevin Towers has contacted the Pirates about bringing Bay back to San Diego along with former Padre Xavier Nady and possibly Matt Morris. The Pirates are known to be interested in catcher Michael Barrett and AA prospect Chase Headley.
Will this turn into the offseason's 2nd blockbuster deal? Stay tuned....
