In a surprising move, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal, the Milwaukee Brewers have released veteran right-hander Claudio Vargas.
Later the same day, manager Ned Yost announced the Brewers official starting rotation:

Brewers could look to deal Kevin Mench
According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, the Brewers may look for trade partners for outfielder Kevin Mench.
It's well known that, since the departure of setup man Scott Linebrink (now with the White Sox) and Closer Francisco Cordero (now with the Reds), the Brewers will work on finding a closer at the Winter Meetings that get underway tomorrow morning in Nashville. A few other names that the Brewers may listen to offers for are left hander Chris Capuano and right hander Ben Sheets.
